Why I Started The Athlete Mindset HQ

Throughout my own life, I’ve learned that some of the toughest battles aren’t visible.

Pressure.

Self-doubt.

Fear of failure.

Setbacks.

Unexpected adversity.

Those experiences taught me something that continues to shape how I approach both sports and life: our mindset often determines how we respond when circumstances become difficult.

That belief inspired me to pursue graduate education in sport psychology and to dedicate my career to helping others develop confidence, resilience, focus, and emotional well-being.

The Athlete Mindset HQ is an extension of that mission.

I’m John Schessler—a mental performance coach, certified personal trainer, intervention specialist, and graduate of a master’s program in Sport Psychology. More importantly, I’m someone who believes that the strongest athletes are built from the inside out.

My passion for mental performance wasn’t born in a classroom. It was shaped through adversity, personal growth, and a lifelong commitment to helping others overcome challenges. Those experiences taught me that success isn’t determined solely by talent or physical ability—it’s built through resilience, confidence, discipline, and the mindset to keep moving forward when life gets difficult.
